Column | Choosing clothes is choosing a way of life.
Because it's something you wear every day.
Because I wash it every day.
Because it's a choice you make every day.
Clothing is an inseparable part of our daily lives. It is our identity, it gives us comfort so we can be active in sports, it is combat clothing for those of us who run, it is a reliable partner or comrade, and it is a memory itself.
Embracing a running lifestyle
In order to provide a "lifestyle with running," Runtrip has ventured into the field of "apparel," and every day we think back and forth between running, living, making clothes, wearing clothes, choosing items...
If running is becoming an infinitesimal lifestyle, then clothing is something that has always accompanied that lifestyle. For those of us who have chosen to run, what kind of clothing would we like to have to accompany us on our path? Can we provide a way of life that includes both running and clothing?
It was during this journey of thought that I came across "BRING", a brand, an idea, and a product.
Making clothes from clothes.
"BRING" is a lifewear brand developed by Japan Environmental Design Co., Ltd. with the concept of "making clothes from clothes" with the aim of realizing a circular society. They recycle unwanted clothes and provide sustainable wear made from 100% recycled polyester fabrics using their own manufacturing technology. Since adopting Runtrip Store as the perfect body for the "EAT DRINK SLEEP RUN" brand concept in the early summer of 2020, they have contributed to the realization of many products, mainly in the same line.
This time, I had the opportunity to hear more about "BRING" directly, and it made me think again about the fact that "choosing clothes is choosing a way of life."
Clothes collected at many affiliated stores are sent to a factory in Kitakyushu where unnecessary tags, buttons, etc. are removed by hand and transformed into recycled fibers through a scientific process.
If all humanity chose to wear this kind of "clothes," we would be able to create a sustainable world with minimal waste of the Earth's resources.
We superimpose this simple, lean, and healthy world with a "lifestyle with running."
To run is to be grateful to the earth. To run is to check one's own body and mind. To run is to grasp empathy for all living things.
I feel that by pursuing running to its fullest, it will lead to this simple and ordinary way of life, "small and powerful."
We aim to spread this way of life through clothing and items.
That is the future and ambition that Lantrip Store envisions.
